Simple Autumn makeup

First of all, I just want to apologise for my lack of posts in the last week or so. I started a new job last week (which I’m loving!) so I’ve been really focused on that and haven’t really got round to sorting out posts. But I’m back on board again now I’ve got my head around the journey etc.

So, I think it’s safe to say that Autumn is upon us and the weather has already taken that downturn into drizzly, windy, chilly territory. Not a bad thing, because I love the Autumn! It’s my favourite season hands down, not just because my birthday is in this season, but because of all the change in colours and the chance to bust out cost sweaters and cute scarves. I will be uploading an autumn look book at some point soon showing staple pieces and how to style them to get maximum wear, so keep an eye out!

Today I thought I’d share a basic Autumnal makeup look to see you through the transitional stage we’re experiencing. It incorporates the rich autumn shades and a slightly heavier base as the dull autumn light can be really draining on your skin.

So here is what I used:

  1. Makeup Revolution eye palette in Matte. I used the two taupe shades my brush is sitting on.
  2. Makeup Revolution blush palette in Hot Spice. I used the shade my brush is resting on.
  3. Revlon Grow luscious mascara in Black
  4. Urban Decay Naked concealer in Fair Light.
  5. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation in shade 2.
  6. Benefit Shy beam matte highlighter.
  7. Benefit Browzings in Dark.
  8. Charlotte Tilbury Rock’n’kohl eyeliner in Verushka mink.
  9. Guerlain Terracotta bronzer in shade 3 brunette.

I wanted to create a flawless base with just a more “daytime” sultry eye and strong lip as I think a dark lip is fantastic in the autumn.

I used my Charlotte Tilbury magic foundation on the centre of my face and blended out with a Real Techniques angled foundation brush, paying attention to the jawline and around my nose as they are my problem areas. I then applied a little bit of Urban Decay Naked concealer under my eyes, on any scars and on my eyelids and used the same brush to blend. I absolutely LOVE this Guerlain terracotta bronzer as it adds just enough warmth without that overpowering bronze shimmer you get from a lot of bronzers. I used my Real Techniques bronzer brush to swirl a light dusting on my cheeks, temples and jawline and a little down my nose. This was followed by the Makeup Revolution blush again using a Real Techniques blending brush. I use this very lightly on the apples of my cheeks.

For the eyes, I wanted it to be simple so I used the lighter taupe shade across the whole lid and used the darker shade in the crease just to add depth. I followed with the Charlotte Tilbury liner on the top lash line with a tiny flick at the corner and a slick of Revlon mascara.

Finally, the main event, the lips! For this look I chose the Charlotte Tilbury Matte revolution lipstick in “Love Liberty” (which I totally forgot to include in the product picture, DOH!) which is a deep berry colour.  It’s dark enough to make a big impact and be edgy, but light enough to be girly and sweet. It’s an incredible lipstick, there will be a review for it shortly, I just haven’t had a chance yet unfortunately!

So that’s my easy peasy autumn makeup! I hope you like it 😊
