Autumn is in full swing and the weird warm-but-cold weather and drizzly rain is making life hard for our wardrobes. It’s this time of year that you need to invest in key pieces that will last you not only through the transition into autumn, but also through winter and into spring. If you invest well, these items will come out year after year when the weather starts to turn a bit chilly.
So, I have invested in my Autumn staples, and wanted to share them with you to hopefully give you some inspiration too.
We’ll start with the clothing. First, I invested in an INCREDIBLE leather jacket by leather masters, Muubaa. I’ve been eyeing up their jackets for a while due to their buttery soft leather and beautiful tailoring. Luckily, I got this one 70% off at Secret Sales, saving me a small fortune, and giving me an absolutely fabulous jacket in the process. I’m In love! Then I bought a “go-to” dress. Now, if you’re not familiar with a go-to dress, it is that dress that you pull out when you can’t think of anything else. It’s casual, yet easily smartened up, laid back, yet dressy. If you’re having one of those days where you don’t know what to wear, this dress will be the one you reach for because it will literally work anywhere. I got this gorgeous roll neck dress from Topshop, and it ticks all the boxes for me this Autumn.
Great boots are also a must at this time of year. I walk to work in the mornings, so I need something comfy, yet stylish and easy to wear. I found these two lovely pairs in very different places. The tan pair are from Topshop, and I picked them up because of their slightly pointed toe and slim ankle. They look really classy and cool at the same time, yet feel comfy. The black pair took me completely by surprise when I spotted them as I walked past Skechers. I saw them in the window and really liked their casual look, so I tried them on and instantly loved them because they’re so comfortable and supportive, while still looking amazing on. A good pair of boots should not only be comfortable, but also durable, so keep the materials in mind. Synthetic leather won’t last half as long as a good quality leather or suede, which will cost more, but you ultimately get more wear from, and it molds more easily for a comfortable fit to your foot shape. It’s not wise to cut costs with great footwear, it can really affect your posture and the way you walk.
Finally, a few accessories. During this time of year, a hat is a great accessory not only for style purposes, but also to keep your hair at bay when that autumn breeze comes on. This beautiful dark berry Wide brim fedora from Accessorize is absolutely perfect as its feminine, cool and easy to wear and the colour screams Autumn! I also got this same hat in black as I loved it so much. I also invested in a pair of leather gloves from classic Marks and Spencer. If you’ve never had leather gloves before, I recommend M&S as they have a huge range of colours in super soft buttery leather. They keep your hands super toasty and look sensational, plus they’re really affordable.
I hope you like my Autumn essentials and they have given you some ideas for your own staples this autumn/winter. Please let me know what your favourites are.
