Eva Nyc Surf’s up texturising spray review

I, like a lot of the female population, struggle with fine, flat hair. It’s a pain in the butt when trying to get that beautiful big, beachy, waved beautifulness we see everywhere. All I want in this world is to step outside with lucious textured locks without using two tonnes of sticky product shoved in my roots. Are you feeling my pain?

So, in the name of trying to achieve my dream, (since my genes clearly aren’t going to help me!) I’ve been on the lookout for products that will boost my locks and give me that great hair day I’ve been longing for. I found a couple of good products from my salon, which I’ve been using, but they boost my hair rather than creating that textured, beachy look I want. I have naturally wavey hair, but it tends to turn into frizz, so I end up straightening it instead and that only makes the problem worse. But I saw this new product on Asos, and loved the packaging, and the reviews online looked good so I gave it a shot.

I’ve used tonnes of these texture sprays and a good 80% (give or take) leave my hair feeling crispy and a bit sticky which I really don’t like. Beachy shouldn’t mean tangled and crispy like a lazy mermaid. I was sceptical this would be the same but wanted to give it a shot. It’s £10, so not exactly the cheapest on the market, but it’s pretty big can, and it’s cheaper than some of the others I’ve tried.

The Eva NYC website says:

Get beachalicious waves without the sunburn using the Eva NYC Surf’s Up! Texture Spray. The salon formula creates sexy, tousled locks and adds a light matte finish to any hair type. Infused with the natural mineral, zeolite for added texture & volume and a unique copolymer blend to hold hair in place. Get the ultimate un-done style without setting foot in the ocean!

Sounds great! But does it work?

Well, I used it on a night out on Friday, going straight from work where my hair was straightened (and flatter than a flip flop) to see what it could do. I tipped my head upside down and sprayed all over, then sprayed on the top and just ruffled my hair with my fingers. Firstly, it smells AMAZING, Like cotton candy and sweeties. Secondly, it ACTUALLY WORKS. The spray is dry, meaning there is no sticky residue to deal with, and it settles into the hair effortlessly. I took a look at my hair and it looked softly tousled, slightly mattified and visibly boosted. RESULT! I have yet to try it on my naturally dried, wavey hair, but I can only imagine it will work even better as it creates slight waves on straightened hair and waves can only get wavier, right?

I’m very impressed, so impressed Infact, I’ve just bought the “Up all night volume booster” too, and will be back to review it soon!
