You may recall that I created a Winter capsule wardrobe last year (If you haven’t seen it, check it out here), and have been sticking to it pretty well. Since I started my capsule wardrobe I’ve hardly bought anything to update it, other than necessities. This is the latest update from my wardrobe. I got a couple of items in January to add to my wardrobe, but, even with the sales, I didn’t really feel the need to get anything in particular because I was aware of exactly what I had in my wardrobe already and knew I didn’t NEED anything.
As we are now moving into Spring, even if it is very slowly, I felt I needed to have a little update and grabbed these items in the sales. They still stick to my capsule colour palette (Yes, I love monochrome) so they can be mixed in with items I already have, but have a little more of a “spring” vibe about them.
I felt I needed more transition pieces, the kind of outfits that will take me from work to play really easily. The Topshop dress is so cute with a basic black roll neck or white shirt under it, smartening it up for work, but taking those off and adding heels instantly makes it look more playful. The playsuit is very similar in that it looks very smart with black tights and boots, but add a leather jacket, red lip and heels and it instantly becomes a simple party piece. I bought the black ankle boots to replace my current black boots as they have seen better days, and no longer look smart enough to wear to work or out on a night out. These beauties were in the Topshop sale and they are just GORGEOUS. The brogues, I have written about a couple of times already. They were my rebellion against plain black pumps, and I’m so glad I picked them up as they have become a bit of a statement item in my wardrobe recently. I love how they’re so smart and formal, but have a really funky twist with the metallic colouring. Finally, I got a pair of tan booties for the Spring as every wardrobe needs a pair of tan boots and mine was missing some! These cuties are very dainty and feminine looking with a pointed toe and small block heel. They look great with jeans, but equally as good with dresses. I have these in black already and they are just lovely to wear. They are in the sale right now so grab some while you can!
I have no doubt as the weather gets warmer I will start to add more colour to my wardrobe, because I love reds and blues in the Summer. I will do another update in a couple of months and show how much things have changed.
