Clean up

I love the feeling of a really clean, fresh face, without all the crazy chemicals that can cause irritation on my sensitive skin. So having products that create that feeling, while also taking care of my delicate skin is really important to me. We only get one set of skin after all, so we have to take care of it properly.

So I recently had a little change up in my cleansing routine, keeping it really simple but effective and using products that really work!

DHC Deep Cleasing Oil – £21.50

Most of us wear makeup, and in the summer we tend to wear more long wearing makeup that can be hard to remove and can often cause irritation if you end up trying to rub it off. So I was pretty excited when I found this oil alternative to my usual cleansing lotion. I have become quite a fan of oils in the last few years, simply because they are so gentle and super effective. Contrary to belief, good oils don’t make skin greasy either, they actually add moisture to the deeper layers of skin and rinse off easily.

This stuff can be used all over your face, including the eye area, to remove all traces of makeup and grime. I use it to remove my whole face of makeup, including waterproof eyeliner and mascara, and it literally just slips off my face with no effort at all. After running it all over my face, I rinse with warm water and HEY-PRESTO, my skin is clean, fresh and super soft. The only negative I have is that it’s a bit pricey, but it’s so worth it for such a great product. Plus, you only need a tiny amount to clean your whole face. Amazing stuff!

Boots Tea and Witch Hazel pore strips with charcoal – £5.99 (for 5)

I’ve never been much of a fan of pore strips because they tend to be quite painful to remove and I have found other strips really irritate my skin. However, I saw these in a recent trip to Boots and thought I’d give them a go, since they are made from natural ingredients, and come in a very cool 2 part system. Rather than just the strips, these come with a calming moisturiser to use afterwards which will also help to keep skin clear with the added benefit of witch hazel and tea tree.

I’ve used these a few times now and they are really easy to use, and don’t hurt to take off, but they are still really effective. After using them, my skin feels really soft and fresh and most importantly, clear!
